- Is the AI included, or do I need my own API key?
- Included. On Restaurant and Business we pay for the model: 1,500 AI requests a month on Restaurant, 4,000 on Business. There is nothing to sign up for and no key to paste.
- What counts as an AI request?
- Only three things: a guest typing a sentence instead of tapping a chip, the one-off reading of a new version of your menu, and importing a printed menu from a PDF or photos. Opening the menu, opening Buddy and tapping the suggestion chips call no model at all — so most guests cost nothing.
- What happens if I run out?
- Nothing breaks. Buddy keeps recommending from your real menu with its own engine — the guided chips, the pairings, the allergen filters — it just stops reading free-typed sentences until the month rolls over. Your guests never see an error.
- Can I get more than the monthly allowance?
- Two ways. Connect your own OpenAI, Gemini or Claude key in the Buddy settings and our cap no longer applies — your provider bills you directly, at cost. Or tell us what volume you are doing and we will raise it.
- Do my guests need an app?
- No. They scan the QR on the table and your menu opens in the browser they already have. Buddy is a button on that page, in six languages, with nothing to install.
